About Acamprol Tablet

It is used to treat alcohol dependence. It helps to maintain abstinence in alcohol-dependent patients. This medicine which acts on the central nervous system (brain and the spinal cord).

This medicine in combination with counselling will help you to not drink alcohol. It does this by acting on the chemical changes that have taken place in the brain during the years that you have been drinking alcohol. It does not prevent the harmful effects of continuous alcohol abuse.

Medicinal Benefits of Acamprol Tablet

Acamprosate is believed to stabilize the chemical balance in the brain by blocking glutaminergic N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors and activating the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptors.

It acts in your brain to decrease your need to drink alcohol. It is used to help keep you free from alcohol.

Directions for Use

Always take Acamprosate exactly as your doctor has told you. This medicine must be taken with food. Try to take Acamprosate at the same time each day. It should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.

• Stomachache
• Nausea, vomiting

Increased plasma concentrations w/ naltrexone.
